What Is Eyebrow Cosmetic Tattoo?

Permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing that uses precise techniques to implant pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. It is designed to enhance or correct features that would otherwise require daily makeup application. Also known as:
Permanent cosmetic, cosmetic tattooing, and micropigmentation.

How Permanent Is It?

The term permanent refers to the stability of the pigment once implanted. However, results are not everlasting. Longevity varies from person to person and depends on factors such as:

  • Lifestyle
  • Skin type
  • Health
  • Environmental exposure
  • Pigment type and brand
Most permanent makeup will gradually fade over time and require maintenance to keep results looking fresh.

Techniques

Microblading
Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing performed using a manual hand tool, rather than a machine. This technique creates fine, hair-like strokes that mimic natural eyebrow hairs and deposits pigment into the upper dermal layer of the skin.

Powder Brows / Shading
A machine technique that softly shades the brows, similar to filling them in with powdered makeup.

Ombre Brows
A machine-shaded brow that gradually transitions from lighter at the front to darker toward the tail for a soft, blended effect.

Combo Brows
A customized blend of techniques, manual and/or machine designed to create individualized results for each client.

Nano Brows A machine-based technique that creates ultra-fine, hair-like strokes using a single-needle cartridge. Nano brows offer the realism of microblading with improved longevity and retention, making them suitable for all skin types, including oily, combination, and mature skin.

Am I A Candidate?

Certain conditions and factors may affect healing and results. Our technician reserves the right to request a physician’s note or refuse service if necessary.

Clients not suitable for this procedure:
  • Under 18 years of age

  • Existing dark, discolored, or solid permanent makeup

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding (retention is unpredictable)

  • Use of blood-thinning medications (e.g., Accutane, Retin-A, Vitamin A — discontinue 6 weeks prior)

  • Skin conditions near the treatment area (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, rashes, blisters)

  • Prone to keloid scarring

  • Recent sunburn (wait at least 4 weeks)

  • Very loose or heavily wrinkled skin (not suitable for microblading)

  • Extremely oily skin or large pores (may affect stroke retention)

  • Use of lash/brow growth serums (discontinue 6 weeks prior)

  • Bleeding disorders, heart conditions, pacemakers, autoimmune disorders, or shingles

  • Known allergies to pigments or numbing agents

  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (common in Fitzpatrick Type VI)

Please disclose all medical conditions and medications prior to booking.

What To Expect: Before & After Procedure

Patch Testing
A patch test is recommended at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to check for reactions to pigments or numbing agents. While helpful, patch tests cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur.

Preparation

  • Arrive makeup-free to allow accurate pigment selection

  • Avoid oily products around the area before your appointment

During the Appointment

  • Brows are carefully mapped and shaped for approval before treatment

  • Only hairs outside the approved shape will be removed

  • Numbing is applied for comfort (before microblading; during shading procedures)

  • Discomfort is minimal and varies by individual tolerance

Aftercare & Healing

  • Avoid water on brows for the first 3 days

  • Apply the provided aftercare ointment for the first 3 nights

  • Brows will appear darker and thicker initially

  • Scabbing and peeling are normal

  • Temporary color loss or patchiness may occur—this is part of the healing process

Healing time: approximately 2 weeks

An initial touch-up within 3 months is recommended to perfect results and prolong longevity.

Longevity & Maintenance

Results typically last 1–2 years, depending on lifestyle and skin type. Factors such as sun exposure and exfoliation can cause fading.

  • Apply SPF daily to protect pigment

  • Annual touch-ups are recommended to maintain color and shape
